The Garden

Gardening is a particular passion of ours.

The 3/4 acre garden was extensively redesigned by Peter Welch of Lostwithiel, who was recently one of the finalists in the RHS National Competition at Hampton Court. His design for Polmena incorporated some of the older features such as a 60 year old box, a wonderful copper beech hedge and, of course, the camelias which flower from November to May.

The design is intended to merge into the landscape of the surrounding countryside with views of the River Fowey below. The garden was replanted in May 1992 and, twelve years later, has matured into a mixed display of texture, form and colour.

We are also very fortunate to have the widely acclaimed Duchy Nurseries also on our doorstep.
