The Garden

Our garden project to redesign and landscape the ¾ acre garden surrounding Polmena House B&B began in May 1992 and continues today.

The design by Peter Welch, a recent Hampton Court RHS finalist, incorporated some of the older features such as a 60 year old box, a wonderful copper beech hedge and, of course, the camelias which flower from November to May.

The garden, designed to be as much part of the surrounding valley landscape as possible, has stunning estuary views of the River Fowey below and has now matured into a mixed display of colour, form and texture.

A number of our plants and shrubs came from the nearby, widely acclaimed Duchy of Cornwall Nursery
